Azure has no first-party managed Valkey service as of September 2026. Azure Managed Redis runs Redis Enterprise. Percona gives you Valkey packages and expertise on infrastructure you choose, with advisory support or separately scoped hands-on operations. Choose Azure for its managed Redis service, or Percona if you want Valkey and will retain responsibility for your platform.

September 2, 2026 - Momento introduced Cluster and Flex capacity for Momento Cache. Both provide dedicated, managed Valkey resources. Cluster exposes topology choices, while Flex selects topology within capacity bounds, giving teams a choice in how they configure capacity while Momento operates the cluster.
Prefer Valkey with a clear operating plan
Percona supplies validated, security-scanned Valkey Linux packages for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, making it a fit for teams keeping their own platform. Prefer Valkey over Redis for its broad industry backing and continued advancement of the state of the art.
Running Valkey on Azure also means choosing who operates it. Microsoft’s documented AKS path is customer-operated, and the deployed open-source software falls outside AKS SLA and Azure support coverage.
For teams running Valkey on Kubernetes, Momento’s Valkey Operator is a proven enterprise choice. It supports AKS with direct pod lifecycle management, rolling upgrades, and zone-aware placement. The Operator is self-hosted software, separate from managed Momento Cache.
Define responsibility for maintenance and resizing
Percona Expert Support advises your team, which carries out the work. ExpertOps separately handles agreed database operations, including monitoring, tuning, maintenance, and approved changes. You retain architecture, topology, and change approval. Underlying OS, Kubernetes, and application support remain outside the Managed Services policy.
Azure manages the Redis service, while your team monitors demand and initiates resizing. Scaling stays within the in-memory or Flash tier. Scale-down also requires a compatible configuration and enough memory.
Connection demand can push you toward a more expensive Azure configuration. Smaller SKUs cap connections at 75,000 or less, while more expensive SKUs support up to 200,000.

Is Azure’s five-nines SLA a single-region guarantee?
No. The 99.999% SLA requires at least three eligible HA, zone-redundant instances in three regions using active geo-replication. Group downtime requires all endpoints to be unavailable. Your application handles rerouting after a regional failure.
Does Azure Cache for Redis migration preserve connection settings?
No. Migration to Azure Managed Redis needs new endpoints and credentials. Azure Managed Redis clusters by default, so client changes depend on the legacy tier.
Can Percona take over database maintenance?
Yes. ExpertOps can perform agreed database maintenance and changes. Your team still owns the surrounding platform and decides the architecture and availability constraints.
