Account for read-your-writes coordination

Upstash Global Database serves reads near users, while writes go to one primary region. Upstash cautions that this design may not suit write-heavy workloads.

Its read-your-writes coordination is overly complex. Supported SDKs track sync tokens within a client. Independent clients must propagate them, and REST clients pass a token header. A replica must reach the token’s state before serving the read. Tokens pad transfer costs, and replication waiting adds latency compared with requesting the data directly from the primary. A single TCP session has causal guarantees, but a write followed by a read through an independent client needs that token coordination. (Upstash read-your-writes mechanism)

ElastiCache’s private-network endpoints have no public IP. Applications outside AWS can connect through supported networking, including production VPN access.
